BJJ Black Belt Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson Announces MMA Retirement

‘Mighty Mouse’ ready to hang up the gloves after legendary run

Former UFC flyweight champ to focus on wrestling, family

Demetrious Johnson, the most dominant flyweight champion in MMA history, has announced his retirement from the sport.

‘Mighty Mouse,’ a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, made the announcement on social media, saying that he was “ready to hang up the gloves” after a “legendary run.”

Johnson, 36, leaves the sport with a record of 30-4-1. He defended his UFC flyweight title a record 11 times before losing to Henry Cejudo in 2018.

Since then, Johnson has competed in ONE Championship, where he won the flyweight Grand Prix in 2019.

In his retirement announcement, Johnson said that he was looking forward to spending more time with his family and focusing on his wrestling career.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have competed in this sport,” Johnson said. “I’ve had some amazing experiences and met some incredible people.

”I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, and I’m excited for the next chapter in my life.”

Johnson’s retirement is a major loss for the MMA world.

He was one of the most dominant champions in the sport’s history, and his technical skills were unmatched.

However, Johnson leaves the sport with a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

He is a true pioneer of the flyweight division, and he helped to legitimize the weight class.

‘Mighty Mouse’ will be missed by fans around the world, but his impact on the sport will be felt for generations to come.
